League Trophy Competitions - Season 2022-23
As previously advised, the League Management Committee has now fully discussed the remaining number of matches that each team has to play this season.
As a result, it has been decided that, subject to future favourable weather conditions, League Trophy competitions will be introduced at this stage for certain age-groups and certain teams.
• Matches will start as from Sunday 12th March 2023.
• It is the current intention that all group-stage fixtures are completed and finalised by end-April.
• The Quarter-Finals (Q/F) matches will be played on Sunday 7th May;
Semi-Finals (S/F) matches on either Sunday 7th May (for those matches going directly to a semi-final) and Sunday 14th May (for those matches with a quarter final game on the 7th May); and
Finals on Sunday 21st May
(all dates to be confirmed).
The League’s objective is to maximise football for all teams, and we believe and trust that the introduction of the above competitions will be welcomed by member clubs.
The Committee has considered each age-group separately and then considered each team within that age-group. Not all teams in each age-group have been sanctioned to enter. This is based on the number of League and other games that each team has still to complete and the number of free weeks (and club pitch availability) left in the season. This is the final decision and cannot be appealed as entry is by invitation only.
The fully sanctioned draw is here.
The terms and conditions of playing are as set by the Management Committee, in accordance with Rules.
In summary:
• Each team will play the other in their ‘Group’ once only (home or away at the discretion of the League Fixture Secretary) – with progression (as noted on the draw sheets) to the next knock-out QF/SF rounds.
• Each Group match will be played as a normal league fixture with ‘no’ extra time or penalties if the score is level at the end of normal time.
• The knock-out QF/SF rounds will be played and penalties, where necessary, will decide the winners (if the score is level at the end of normal time); there is no extra time in these QF/SF games.
ALL League/Cup rules of the League shall apply:
• Referee fees for each match are to be paid by the home team.
• When submitting the on-line match result form please select ‘Challenge Trophy’ for the competition being played in.
If weather conditions deteriorate in the coming weeks then, under Rules, the Management Committee reserve the right to cancel any of the competition age-groups or to withdraw any team or teams from the competition at its discretion. This decision, if taken, will be final and binding. League matches will always take precedence in this decision process.
